I volunteered a couple of weeks ago to take some photographs at the Allen Relay for Life for the American Cancer Society.  I didn't know anything about this fundraiser until I volunteered, but what they do is celebrate survivors of cancer by camping out and having fun for an entire night. During this event they do a lot of different things to raise awareness for cancer and rally the community around the cause.

The most striking part of this event was when the leader of a Boy Scouts Troupe gave a keynote speech about how when he was younger and was diagnosed with cancer; he was given a 20% chance of survival.  As of the day of the event there was a boy in his troupe that was diagnosed with the same kind of cancer and given a 90% chance of survival.  It shows the progress in cancer research over the course of one lifetime and is very uplifting.  It also shows that the impact of donations and community support really does make progress and shows relatively quick results.  I highly encourage everyone to support the American Cancer Society through donations as well as volunteering time.

I was shooting a wedding at City Place a couple weeks ago on the 42nd floor with a great view of downtown Dallas.  I took this picture through the window and it really turned out well.  If I had more time I as well as access to good elevated positions I could do this kind of stuff all day long.  I love it!

I took this picture at a wedding the other day and it's one of my favorite random pictures that I have taken lately.  I'm using it for my current wallpaper on my desktop.

Do I have a favorite lens? It's hard to say that I have just one favorite lens, but just pure fun factor...it would have to be the Tilt/Shift. It gives a photo that extra something special that can take a normal picture and make it art.

One of the effects it has is that it makes the objects of the photograph look like they are miniature toys. I took a photograph from the window of the Sheraton in Arlington while the bride was getting ready to show this effect. It's so much fun!
