Laura and I took a vacation to San Francisco recently and enjoyed the cool weather. Going from 100 degrees to 70 degrees was very very welcome. Cowtown to Chinatown was also a huge welcome. I haven't had Dim Sum since I studied abroad in Hong Kong.
San Francisco was a blast and we tried to do as much as we could, but I think my favorite moments were the ones just sitting on a bench and looking at the ocean. The Trinity River here in Dallas isn't quite as cool. Breathtaking in a horrible way...yes; cool...no.
Here are some of the pictures I took while I was there:
Laura and were waiting for a trolley and I saw this out of the corner of my eye. I couldn't believe it and like a prowling panther with my Nikon camera I snuck up and took the picture. Well, not quite like that, but I did do a little sneaking to get close enough and not alert the guy.
This is a jellyfish at the aquarium. Very cool.
This is the Palace of Fine Arts. This is where Sean Connery is captured after that huge car chase in "The Rock" that derails a trolley.
Palace of Fine Arts again.
Laura and I stood there for something like half an hour waiting for that trolley to come down to the place where had to be to get on it. They only run so often. Great opportunity to start taking pictures.
A rooftop at Alcatraz.
Alcatraz
An intersection in San Francisco where all the wires for the trolleys become a big spaghetti bowl. The guy that installed all of this and kept it all straight must have been really smart.
I like the name of the store, but I would have chosen a different font.
Alley in Chinatown.
A building in Chinatown.
A street in Chinatown.
A street in Chinatown.
That same building at night now. I like this one more than the daytime one.
Muir Woods. This the tallest species of tree in the world. They get as high as 400 feet. Their close cousins are known for getting really wide trunks and are the more famous trees at Sequoia National Park.
A trunk of one of these trees.

WOW! I want to blow up the one of the jellyfish into a poster and hang it in my classroom. I can't believe that BLUE!

Amanda and Garrett drove up from the Houston area for their engagement session in downtown McKinney, Texas. It was a hot day, but it was a great photo shoot. I was able to find so many cool and unique pieces of light to play with for some dramatic photos.

I asked Amanda how she met Garrett and she said that they met in college and of all of Garrett friends he was the tallest. He also had a "Jesus" beard that she liked. :)
We had a great time and I couldn't ask for better clients. They were up for just about anything and gave me their trust the entire time. Here are some of my favorites from the day.

Amber is the sister of the wife of someone I used to work with. Who, by the way, is a cool guy himself. So, I was proud to get this reference and get to photograph their wedding. It was a wonderful and fun reception at City Place off of I-75 on the 42nd floor. They had a great view of downtown Dallas at night and the whole floor to themselves. Great place to have a reception!
The greatest part of the reception was the Louisiana flare to the wedding since they are LSU alums with Zydeco music playing here and there throughout the night. They were a lot of fun!

Kimberly and Brian were looking for photography that was a little bit different and they found me. I'm glad that my work stood out to them and I am honored to have the opportunity to shoot their wedding day. They are both a lot of fun and full of laughs.
We started the day in the Design District of Dallas and fought the heat to get some cool urban pictures of the two of them. We then headed over to the Turtle Creek area for something with more green in it. I am really excited about the pictures from the day.
